Phuket’s Most Photogenic Places
There is no denying that Phuket is a beautiful island with plenty of things to see and do. You can’t get past your hotel’s front entrance without the beauty of this place smacking you straightaway in the face. But with that said, some places are much more beautiful and photo worthy than others. So to save you some time on your travels, we offer you our list of the 5 Most Photogenic Places on the Island of Phuket.
5Old Phuket Town
With all the amazing beaches in Phuket, the last thing that’s probably on your mind is to take a walking tour of the old town. However, this path less traveled is well worth your time. The Old Town of Phuket Town (now known as Phuket City), offers an awesome display of Sino-Portuguese architecture that you won’t find anywhere else in Thailand. These colorful buildings offer a great contrast to what you will find on the rest of the island.
4The Big Buddha
Perched upon one of the highest points in the South of Phuket Island, the Big Buddha is a great place to flex your photography skills. Being one of the best tourist attractions on the entire island, the Big Buddha is easily accessible no matter where you are staying. It offers amazing panoramic views over both the east and west coasts of the island, as well as a birds eye view over Wat Chalong and Phuket City. It may be the only place on the island where you can take both sunrise and sunset photos.
3West Coast of Phuket
When talking about Phuket, the West Coast of the island is definitely the place to be. This is also true when talking about the most photogenic places in Phuket. With amazing beaches and even better sunsets, there really isn’t a bad place on the west coast to take a photo. Our suggestion, grab a seat at one of the many restaurants along the west coast and just wait for the sunset. Enjoy the beauty of Phuket with a cold drink and delicious food. It doesn’t get any better.
2Laem Phromthep Viewpoint
Located at the farthest southern tip of the Island of Phuket, the Laem Phromthep Viewpoint is one of the most popular destinations for those looking to capture amazing sunset photos. It is both easily accessible and incredibly easy to find. If you happen to be in the Rawai area anytime before sunset, just follow the caravan of tour buses up the hillside to this popular viewpoint. Although the sunsets can be hit or miss, even on the worst days, you are sure to capture some awe inspiring photos from this fantastic vantage point.
As the most photographed place on the island of Phuket, there should be little surprise that the Karon Viewpoint takes the number one spot. Easily accessible on the south of the island between Kata Beach and the Rawai / Nai Harn Area, this fantastic viewpoint offers a perfect view up the Western coast of Phuket. On a clear day you can see Kata Noi, Kata and Karon Beaches. If you happen to visit during a holiday, you can also see fantastic firework displays from Kata, Karon and Patong Beach in the distance.
