Top 5 Best Phuket Beaches
Phuket is the top tourist destination in Thailand. It offers everything that a tourist could want, great restaurants, amazing nightlife, and of course beautiful beaches. Unfortunately for those tourists that come here for the beaches, very few actually get to see the best that Phuket has to offer. There are a few spots on Phuket that only the most well researched traveler would ever dare to find. So I present to you here, the Top 5 Best Phuket Beaches. Of course this is all based on opinion, so feel free to disagree with the top five choices.
5Nai Harn Beach
As the only major tourist beach on this list, Nai Harn clenches the number five spot. It is actually one of the nicest beaches on the island, but it suffers from overcrowding to some extent during the peak season. This is due to how easy it is to access. There are no jungle hikes or long-tail rides to reach this top tourist beach, just follow the signs and you are there.
4Kata Noi Beach
Both Kata and Kata Noi Beaches are extremely nice and quite similar to one another. However, Kata Noi Beach makes our list for one simple reason. Hardly anyone goes there. That’s right, there are two beaches that are so much alike and literally 5 minutes apart from one another, yet Kata Beach gets all the action. Want the beautiful white sand and clear water of Kata, but not the crowds? Head over to Kata Noi Beach which is just over a small hill and unknown by most. Relax in paradise without the crowds.
Despite its close proximity to the tourist mecca of Patong, Paradise Beach has maintained a lot of its natural beauty and charm. We’re not going to lie, this place can get a bit busy. But what did you expect, it’s about 10 minutes out from Patong Beach and extremely beautiful? Paradise Beach is what you would call the poor man’s Freedom Beach. It offers a similar pristine tropical atmosphere but with the convenience of being only a short drive from Patong.
If I were writing this list about 20 years ago, Banana Beach would easily take the number one spot. Unlike Freedom Beach which has always kind of been known, Banana Beach has only recently been discovered. I guess we can blame online top 5 lists such as this one for exposing such a beautiful beach to the world. Despite its increase in overall popularity, Banana Beach has retained much of its original charm. But be forewarned, you should visit as soon as possible, who can tell the future that awaits Banana Beach.
My idea of a perfect tropical beach consists of crystal clear water, white sand, palm trees swaying in the breeze along the shoreline, and not another person in site. Unfortunately, Freedom Beach only gets a three out of four there, as you will always find other beach-goers, but on an island as busy as Phuket, that’s still pretty good. Compared to the more popular and easily accessible beaches such as Patong Beach, Freedom Beach will seem practically deserted.
For this reason, combined with it being absolutely beautiful and extremely well maintained, Freedom Beach receives our top spot. Quite honestly, it may always be this way, despite the influx of tourism to the island, because Freedom Beach is not easily accessible. Unless you are in the mood to climb down hills in the middle of the jungle, the only way to arrive at Freedom Beach is by boat. Very few people would go so far out of their way to reach an isolated beach when there are so many other easily accessible beaches nearby.
So there you have it, the Top 5 Best Phuket Beaches. Do you agree with our list or do you have a different opinion of what should have made the cut? Let us know in the comments below.
